Who are we?
We are Kate and Alan, a husband and wife team living and working in rural west of Ireland.
We have been working with natural materials for most of our lives in one form or another, the mud pies we both made as children developed in later life to full cob structures.
We believe in taking the natural beauty that nature offers and using it to create useable and lovely products for anyones enjoyment, much like our ancestors would have done. We even try to use many of the techniques our previous generations would have used to make the products.
As well as creating thse products we love to teach others how to create their own. We run regular willow basket making courses at our studio in the west of Ireland. We can also arrange to come to you to teach a group of people. Please see our workshops page for more details on basketry course.
Alongside our basketry work, we also create many other lovely hand crafted items such as wooden spoons and bowls etc. Handmade rope from natural materials such as sissal, hemp and even stinging nettles. As well as lumpwood charcoal, bio-char and artist charcoal.
